Netscape Messenger Email Setup
Configuring Netscape

  • Open Netscape Messenger.
  • Click on the “Edit” menu.
  • Select “Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings…”.

  • Enter the outgoing server information: “mail.roadstarinternet.biz”.
  • Set the port to 25 (default) or 1025 (secondary).
  • Enter user name: “john@rstarmail.com”
  • Set the “Use secure connection (SSL)” to “Never”.
  • Then click “Add Account…” button.

  • Select “Email Account”.
  • Click “Next”.

  • Enter clients name (example: John Doe); this will appear in the “From” field in users emails.
  • Enter full email address (example: john@rstarmail.com).
  • Click “Next”.

Select POP3 or IMAP.

  • POP3 downloads email to your computer. Your email will be stored in the Inbox under “Local Folders".
  • IMAP reads your email but keeps all of your messages on the server. The email is not downloaded to your computer unless you copy or move the message manually. This is the recommended setting if you will be accessing mail from multiple locations because it is very reliable.

Enter incoming mail server (example: mail.roadstarinternet.biz).

  • Enter your email name. NOTE: Use the entire email address eg. John@rstarmail.com The information you type in this field is case sensitive. .

  • Enter a name for this account profile. This is how the account profile will be identified on the your computer.
  • Click “Next”.
  • Click “Finish”.

Perform a follow-up test by sending a message to a friend's email account and asking the friend to reply to the email. This will test both sending and receiving email.
