Microsoft Outlook 2003 Email Setup
Configuring Outlook

  • Open Microsoft Outlook.
  • Select the Tools menu.
  • Click on “E-mail Accounts”.

  • Select “Add a new e-mail account".
  • Click “Next”.

Select IMAP or POP3

  • POP3 downloads email to your computer. Your email will be stored in the Inbox under “Local Folders".
  • IMAP reads your email but keeps all of your messages on the server. The email is not downloaded to your computer unless you copy or move the message manually. This is the recommended setting if you will be accessing mail from multiple locations because it is very reliable.

Enter a display name. This is the name that will be displayed to receivers of your email to indicate who sent the message.

  • Enter the full email address.
  • Enter the incoming and outgoing mail server names.
    • Mail server name: “mail.roadstarinternet.biz”, for both incoming and outgoing.
  • Enter user name. NOTE: Use the entire email address eg. John@rstarmail.com This field is case sensitive.
  • Enter a password that is between 4 and 8 characters. The password is case sensitive.

  • Click “More Settings” button.
  • Select “Outgoing Server” tab.
    • Check “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”.
    • Select the radio button “Use same settings as my incoming mail server”.

Click the “Advanced” tab.

  • NOTE: user can select “Leave copy of messages on server” at this point. This will force POP3 mail service to perform similar to IMAP.
  • § &n bsp; If you are accessing mail from multiple locations, this setting can cause some reliability problems.
  • We recommend that you use IMAP instead of this setting for improved reliability.

  • Click “OK”.
  • Click the “Next” button.
  • Click “Finish”.

Perform a follow-up test by sending a message to a friend's email account and asking the friend to reply to the email. This will test both sending and receiving email.
